Our junior students will learn French using the highly engaging and successful method of TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). Students will read, and listen actively and attentively for details and information within a range of funny, quirky, and creative stories. Students will be encouraged to provide brief responses in the target language to questions, both personal and textual. Students will produce work in the target language, the main focus being comprehension of material and successful communication of a message rather than on grammatical rules. Over the course of the two years of junior French, students will gain confidence in their understanding of the language. Please note that while the course is multi-level, the Modern Languages Department stresses the importance of exposure over time to content, meaning that grade 9 students enrolled in the course will not automatically be granted grade 10 credit.
