The purpose of this course is to develop a critical eye for film as well as learning the basics of film composition. The course is broken down into five units; the first being an introduction on the basics of film composition and analysis, and the last four being focused on a specific film genre of the teacher’s choosing. In each unit, students will produce a scene (a short video) based on key elements of the chosen genre. Four of the following genres will be selected every year: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Historical, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction, Thriller.
