This year-long leadership course is designed for students that are interested in actively increasing our sustainability at Esquimalt High School. This can take many forms. From helping improve composting, recycling and waste management to taking a leadership role in our school garden to support our foods program, students get to select a focus and use their work to create positive change while building a more sustainable community.
Environmental Leadership meets outside of the timetable and will include group activities, guest speakers, research and hands on projects, developing school initiatives, and developing communication and leadership skills. Evaluation will be based on volunteer hours, weekly attendance, the planning and successful completion of projects and events, and self-reflection. Students can take Environmental Leadership in grades 10, 11 and 12 and are welcome to join the program in any grade.
