New Media 11

Credits: 4

New Media 11 is a continuation of  New Media and Focused Literary Studies 10. This course offers students an opportunity to explore, and engage critically with different forms of new media. Students will examine numerous types of media such as film, social media, gaming, blogs, podcasts, and more, while addressing the Language Arts 11 Curricular Competencies. Students will be challenged to critically examine new media ‘texts’ along side more traditional literary forms such as novels, poetry, plays, and first people’s texts. By delving deeply into these varied texts students will develop their critical capacities for analysis and explore different forms of representation. In addition students will develop sophisticated, and professional compositional writing skills. Students who wish to take this course do not have to have taken New Media and Focused Literary Studies 10, but should have completed an English 10 course.
