Physical and Health Education 9 Aquatics

Location: Gym, Weight Room, Esquimalt Recreation Center Pool

Aquatics 9 is a course developed in partnership with Esquimalt Recreation and the BC and Yukon Red Cross.  Students must be proficient swimmers to enroll in this class. Throughout the duration of the course, students will be given instruction towards attaining their Bronze Medalion and Bronze Cross certifications.  They will also receive their Standard First Aid.  Once finished, students will only need one additional class offered by Esquimalt Recreation to obtain the National Lifeguard Certification. Many current and former Esquimalt students are currently working as lifeguards having finished this course.
Students must consider:
  • Attendance is mandatory.  There is very little opportunity to make up lost time.
  • This is a physical course and being a proficient swimmer is key to success.
  • This course is a popular elective choice for senior students looking for work as Lifeguards in the community.
