Physics 12 is a continuation and revisit of Physics 11. Topics that are revisited will involve more complex problem-solving and mathematics.
Topics include understanding the motion of objects in two dimensions, the effects of forces on motion, momentum and energy. Additional units could include electrostatics, electromagnetism, force equilibrium, circular motion and gravitation. Credit in Physics 11 is required before enrolling in Physics 12. A strong background in Pre-Calculus 11 is highly recommended. A scientific calculator with two-line display is required equipment; graphing calculators are permitted but not required.
A Science 12 is not required for graduation. Most engineering postsecondary pathways require Physics 12. Students pursuing STEM pathways in postsecondary will likely need TWO approved academic Science 12 courses.
