Science 10 Challenge follows the Science 10 curriculum and continues to build competencies in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science in preparation for subject-specific senior-level courses. Topics include an introduction to genetics and inheritance, the different types of chemical reactions, energy changes during chemical reactions, the chemistry of acids and bases, calculating kinetic and potential energy, the nature of radiation and nuclear reactions, and the big bang theory and the structure of the universe. Science 10 Challenge enhances this curriculum with project-based learning and teaching methods that address the diverse styles and modalities of the gifted learner. Students will learn and practice scientific thinking skills when they complete a Science Fair project to investigate a scientific question that sparks their curiosity.
