This course is for students who want to create imagery on 2D surfaces using dry media such as: graphite, charcoal, ink, chalk pastel, oil pastel, natural pigments and other materials. Students will explore art-making using a variety of materials while exploring various themes such as personal, social and cultural identity. Explorations will relate to historical and cultural ideas including Indigenous art. Students will learn basic techniques and will be challenged to create unusual and creative pieces, using art as a means for personal expression. Basic supplies will be provided to students in order to meet the learning outcomes of all courses.
